Chocolate fanatics in San Francisco might naturally head straight to Ghirardelli’s, but for anyone with a taste for something a little more homemade and boutique, it is worth looking a little further, by heading down to one of Dandelion Chocolate’s two factory locations.
Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory, dedicated to producing the most mouthwatering small batch craft chocolate in the Bay Area. Their two sites are a delightful realization of the vision of a more down-to-earth Willy Wonka. Part cafe, part working production line, guests can take guided tours of the factory, enjoy the results in the attached cafe, or even take a class or a workshop, to discover the secrets of chocolate making and tasting. If you’re taking a Dandelion Chocolate tour, don’t forget to lick your fingers at the end.
The rich smell of cocoa is almost overpowering as soon as you step inside these wonderful temples to chocolate. Spending time sipping hot cocoa or enjoying a full breakfast in the Bloom Salon at the 16th Street site is a real feast for all the senses. No matter what, make sure you take at least one Dandelion chocolate bar home with you.
For anyone with a taste for chocolate or just a sweet tooth in general, Dandelion Chocolate will feel like paradise.
