United Flights
United Airlines, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, is a major American airline. United Airlines operates a large domestic and international route network that connects cities large and small throughout the United States and all six inhabited continents. After a merger with Continental Airlines in 2010, it became the world’s third-largest airline in terms of fleet size and route network.
There are eight hubs for United, with Chicago-O’Hare being the biggest in terms of both passengers carried and departures. It is a founding member of the Star Alliance, which currently has 28 member airlines and is the largest airline alliance in the world. Under the name United Express, independent carriers provide regional service. Several airlines, the oldest of which was Varney Air Lines, founded in 1926, were merged under the United brand name in the late 1920s.
United flies to 238 domestic and 118 international destinations in 48 countries or regions spread across five continents. United Airlines operated a fleet of 841 aircraft as of July 2022, with an additional 544 aircraft planned or on order, all of which were either Boeing or Airbus.
United currently operates eight hubs as part of its hub-and-spoke business model: Chicago-O’Hare, Denver, Guam, Houston-Intercontinental, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington-Dulles.

Boarding Pass
You can print your boarding pass prior to arriving at the airport, use the mobile app or use a kiosk at the airport to print your pass.
Seats
United offers a variety of seating options,United Polaris Business Class, United First, United Business, Economy Plus, Economy, Basic Economy. There is no charge to choose a seat unless you choose from preferred seating areas which cost $9 each way.
Baggage Policy
Each passenger can bring a carry on and a personal item free of charge. Basic Economy tickets are the only exceptions, they are only allowed to have one personal item.
There is a $30 fee for the first checked bag and $40 fee for the second checked bag when checked online. If you check your bags at the airport they are $5 more expensive.
Traveling with Kids
Families traveling with infants under 2 are not required to purchase a ticket for the infant.
United Airlines does its best to seat families with kids under 15 together. They recommend booking the flights early and selecting seats upon purchase.
Strollers can be checked at the gate before boarding and picked up at the gate free of charge. Families traveling with a stroller and a car seat may only check one.
Traveling with Pets
Small cats and dogs that fit in a travel carrier under the seat in front of you are allowed to travel in-cabin. Pet fee is $125 each way. Travelers are allowed to bring a carry on in addition to their pets’ kennel.
If you want to bring more than one pet you will need to buy an extra ticket and pay the $125 pet fee. Make sure to indicate you have a pet with you while you book your tickets. If you haven’t you can always modify through “manage reservations” or call United customer care 1-800-864-8331.
Service Animals
Service animals are free of charge. Your service animal should sit in the floor space in front of you.
