Natural History Museum, 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles
Open: Fridays in June and July, 6 pm-9 pm
There is something genuinely magical about a museum after-hours, whether it’s the feeling that you are experiencing something exclusive, the sense that you shouldn’t really be here, or just the fact that learning is even more fun with a drink in your hand. Whatever the impression, it’s a superb experience.
Summer Nights in the Gardens takes this thrill and transplants it to the gorgeous surroundings of the Nature Gardens at the Natural History Museum, Los Angeles. Throughout the summer, Friday night sees the Gardens transformed into a laid-back party as guests stroll through the museum’s backyard, sipping on delicious cocktails while enjoying the sunset and the night sky. Attending means you have special access to the LA Natural History Museum, hours after it closes.
You’ll be treated to an array of summer-themed outdoor experiences, as well as some truly cool take-home activities inspired by the natural world. As you lose yourself in this little oasis, live music performances and DJs keep the vibe going and provide the perfect backdrop.
It’s a lovely place for a relaxed night out, and you might even learn a thing or two on a botanical tour, or with one of the hands-on science projects.
