Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival Dates: August Bank Holiday

Once a year, the streets of Notting Hill in West London come alive in an explosion of color, rhythm, music, and party times. One of the world’s largest street festivals that takes over the neighborhood, for the long weekend. Since 1966, Notting Hill has been the location for a huge celebration of British West Indian culture, an extraordinary exploration of the deep roots that the Caribbean has in London, and one of the biggest parties in the world.

Above everything else, the Carnival is about having a good time. Enjoy dancing along marveling at the stunning costumes and floats in the main parade, strutting your stuff at the enormous sound systems that take over every corner, and chowing down on delicious curry goat, jerk chicken, or rice and peas. This is an event that is full of summer sunshine, island vibes, and some of the heaviest beats to be found in the whole of London. Notting Hill Carnival history is colorful--but not as colorful as the famous Notting Hill Carnival outfits!

If you are in London at the end of August, put on your dancing shoes, cover yourself in glitter, and grab a Red Stripe or a rum and ginger beer. Take to the streets of Notting Hill, and find out exactly what a party of two and a half million people looks like!
