755 Frederick St, San Francisco
Running away to join the circus has finally become a legitimate option for anyone heading to San Francisco. If you’ve ever dreamed of soaring gracefully on a flying trapeze under the big top or breathing fire and swallowing swords, then the Circus Center, near Golden Gate Park, might be just the thing for you.
The Circus Center, SF, started life as the Pickle Family Circus, who set up a school for circus arts in San Francisco in 1984. These days it’s a joyful melange of jumping acrobats, trapeze artists flying through the air, climbing silks, and tumbling. If acrobatics is not your thing, there’s even a clown conservatory, teaching the very serious business of clowning around.
Check out the Circus Center schedule to see that it runs a huge range of classes and workshops for all tastes, abilities, and ages. There are some truly intriguing options available, such as acrodance or clown therapy! Aerobatics--Circus Center’s popular class--is also worth a try. The Center offers a truly unique experience, and the chance to try something entirely new that some people only dream about. So sack off a more traditional exercise class or sporting activity, and come and join the circus, with all the fun of the fair.
